Mountain Valley Spring Water is pristine, naturally high pH water, containing a nice selection of minerals like calcium carbonate, iron, manganese and even a trace amount of fluoride. Devotees of our water claim it not only tastes refreshing, but it has a certain “mouth feel” other holistic water options do not possess. Our natural spring water has twice won the title of “Best Tasting Non-Carbonated Bottled Water in the World” at the prestigious Berkley Springs International Water Tasting Competition.
Many teams of geologists have tested the natural spring source over the years and have determined that the water takes up to 3,500 years for the rain falling on Cedar Mountain to travel to the deep aquifer and return as Mountain Valley Spring Water. The natural filtering of this ancient water and the minerals it collects along the way make it different from many other bottled water sources.
The naturally high pH of Mountain Valley mineral water is especially prized by knowledgeable, natural and organic consumers that desire holistic water to help offset modern high acid diets.
Mountain Valley Spring Water in glass bottles is sought out by chemically sensitive people who suffer from MCS and are sensitive to pervasive man-made chemicals in the environment. Mountain Valley is dedicated to ensuring our bottles, caps, and labels remain safe for chemically sensitive people.
In addition, Mountain Valley Spring Water is certified Kosher and Pareve by the Orthodox Union and we stand fast to its principals.
The quality of Mountain Valley Spring Water begins with the natural spring source the company has utilized and carefully protected since 1871. No activities are allowed on the 2,000 acres of forest land protecting our watershed other than those relating to the bottling of our premium spring water products.
The water flowing from the natural spring is tested daily by our quality control staff, monthly by the Arkansas Department of Health, annually by the National Sanitation Foundation, and periodically by other governmental bodies and private companies using our products. Everything coming into contact with our water, including the stainless steel holding tanks, piping, bottles and caps is carefully tested daily.
While Mountain Valley is being bottled, the water is filtered and ozone is added to ensure there is no biological contamination. We use ozone because it is quite effective against a wide variety of potential contaminants, but also because it breaks down into oxygen after it is in the bottle. We monitor this process every 10 seconds for pH, conductivity, ozone residual and total dissolved solids. Bacterial tests are taken daily and incubated. Sample cases of product from each production run are put aside and reserved for six months. The records of all in-house and third party testing (governmental agencies or independent companies) are maintained for 10 years.
Additional rigorous oversight and inspections (both surprise and announced) come from the Food and Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Military, the National Sanitation Foundation (on behalf of the International Bottled Water Association) and the Kosher Union. Mountain Valley Spring Water is also scrutinized carefully by diverse governmental authorities in countries such as Japan, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
In addition to the frequent testing described above, our premium spring water undergoes an extensive annual analysis by a laboratory certified by the EPA to analyze drinking water. This analysis, mandated for all companies belonging to the International Bottled Water Association, shows the natural occurring minerals and properties of our water and also tests for 187 potential contaminants.
Despite what some critics of bottled water may say, this required analysis far exceeds the scope of the testing required of municipal tap water systems and the
